Our Youth Section Continues To Grow 🏑

Following the successful merger of Bournville and Kings Heath Hockey Clubs, our youth section has continued to go from strength to strength, growing by 40% over the past season.

Much of that growth has come through recommendations and referrals from existing members and families, something we are particularly proud of. It reflects the welcoming and friendly environment our coaches, volunteers, parents and young players have created.

Throughout the season, our junior players have represented BKH at tournaments and fixtures across Worcestershire and the wider region, from our youngest U8 players taking their first steps into competitive hockey through to U16 players preparing for the transition into adult hockey.

The 2025/26 season brought some fantastic milestones for our youth section:

• Our first U16 Girls fixture, followed by a growing programme of games against Edgbaston, Old Silhillians and Harborne.
• Our first Boys U12 IN2Hockey team, competing at Stourport.
• Our U12 Girls competing in the National IN2Hockey tournament.
• For the first time, we were able to field two U8 teams at a Worcestershire tournament.
• A club first as we entered three U12 teams into the same Worcestershire tournament.
• We hosted Worcestershire Mini Hockey tournaments for the U8, U10 and U12 age groups.
• At Bromsgrove's summer tournament, BKH proudly fielded six youth teams in one day: two U8 teams, one U10 team, two U12 teams and one U14 team. 

For many of our youngsters, hockey sits alongside other favourite sports such as netball, football, rugby and cricket. We've seen players make the transition into hockey and quickly enjoy the fun, friendly training and team environment.

Our coaches and players are there to encourage each youngster, helping them develop their skills, confidence and understanding of team play at a pace that suits them.

It's about enjoying hockey, making friends and developing along the way.

Perhaps most importantly, our young players have had more opportunities than ever to play hockey, develop their skills, make friends and enjoy being part of a team.

Whether your child has played hockey before or has never picked up a stick, we'd love to welcome them to BKH.

Our youth section continues to grow, with opportunities for boys and girls across multiple age groups and a clear pathway into adult hockey within the club.

And with our brand-new all-weather pitch, there has never been a better time to give hockey a go.
