Our umpires are the life blood our club and without them matches can’t be played and we won’t be able to enjoy the sport that we love. Because of this, we are committed as a club to ensure that we have a healthy number of umpires in the club and will support the development of anyone that does so.
Club Umpires
For those whose playing days may be behind them, and they wish to continue their involvement in the sport becoming a club umpire may be a desirable path. Any individual who can commit to umpiring 15 games, whilst not being a player will be given free membership to Kings Heath Cricket & Sports club.
Volunteer Umpires
For those playing or not able to commit to 15 games a season, we offer several incentives for those that give up their time and umpire.
For each game umpired, you will receive one entry into a draw for an end of season meal ticket.
For those not wishing to receive the incentives you can, if you wish claim £10,00 per match. To claim any payments for umpiring please email treasurer@bkh.hockey
Umpire Development
As a club we will support any individual looking to pursue umpiring through numerous opportunities at various levels, to ensure that an individual is comfortable before umpiring high standard matches. We are also lucky to have several umpiring assessors attached to the club, who will support those starting their journey from being level 1 unassessed to level 1 assessed. Level 1 umpiring courses through England Hockey are now completely free, you can find more information regarding these courses here.
How To Get Involved
If you fancy giving the job behind the whistle ago, please contract our umpiring secretary Richard Baller for more information.
We will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
