Finally, after what feels like a very long time, we’ve merged two great clubs and can begin our exciting future together. I’m delighted to have been voted the club’s first Chair at the EGM this week and I can’t wait to get started with our new committee. Personally, for me, it’s the first time I’ll have only one role! That is a testament to the number of people that have engaged throughout the entire merger process and want to get involved. I’d like to give a massive thank you to Mark Reed for chairing the EGM and for emphasising the importance of ensuring that no one is left behind and that we are creating a club that is open and accessible to everyone.
I’d like to welcome all 18 other members onto the committee; it’s incredible to have such a large group. Over the next few months, we will be working to obtain Club Mark Accreditation, publish club-wide policies covering everything from player and umpire development, selection policies through to various welfare and safety guidance. We’ll also be looking to ensure that we are season-ready on the pitch, with several social events, mixers, friendlies and a good pre-season before we kick start on the 28th of September.
